Update for current charter school students, parents and whānau
The government is ending charter schools and is working with them to become part of the wider state school system.
You can be confident that your charter school will continue in its present form until the end of the 2018 school year.
All the existing charter schools have applied to become a different type of school in the state system, and you will hear by the end of July if your school’s application has been approved.
Once decisions are known, the Ministry will work with your school to make sure the change goes smoothly for everyone, including students, parents and whānau.
For more information, contact your local Ministry of Education office.
